This is a short blog because I am posting Day 6 poem here. Also, Artemis II has become the first ship to carry humans the farthest distance from Earth. They're on a drive by to the moon and it must be sad not to be able to stop and walk on it. But they are able to check it out and let us know what it looks like now.
I was a camp counselor when the first Moon Walk occurred. We watched on a big TV for that time. It was 1969 so not so large as the ones we have today and definitely not flat screened. We had to wheel it into the Rec Hall and everyone sat on hard chairs for hours waiting for the big moment. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took the first steps on the moon. Learn more about it here. They paved the way for moon exploration. But this is not an easy venture and so we had a drive by to check it out.
Anyway, this was fifty-seven years ago so it got me thinking about time. Hence the poem related to water but not exactly about water.
Hope everyone had a great Easter and if you are still celebrating Passover, I am making a matzoh strawberry cheesecake icebox cake. I will share photos on Facebook if it turns out okay. It will be my first time making it. But here is the recipe if you want it:
Day 6
Prompt: Write a poem about water
The Water of My Life
Time is a river that flows through my life
It moves me across the expanse of ages
And propels me forward when necessary
The river of time doesn’t stop
It just continues on from one place to the other
Carrying me forward to new experiences
And moving me beyond any expectations
To a world I had never known existed
Forcing me to spend a little bit of my life
In sudden whirlpools of circumstance
And steering me through the rapids
That occur as the river takes me along its path
The water is sometimes smooth and then rough
But I am unfazed as I navigate each bend and waterway

Until the next time, I hope you are writing or reading a poem a day for April. It's Poetry Month and that means we should immerse ourselves in poetry. You don't have to write it to enjoy it. Some of you may want to check out my ebook of my poetry book: You'll Probably Forget Me: Living With and Without Hal, which is available also in paperback on Amazon and Lulu.
I am still awaiting the publication of the second book of the Mill Valley High series, Who Is Jennifer Taylor? When it happens you will know because it will be all over my page on Facebook!
